We were required to write a press release promoting a brand new food tour that was based around the DC Cherry Blossom Festival. My goal with this assignment was to increase the theoretical tourism of this organization, and to practice writing compelling press releases.

Op-Ed: The Arctic National Wildlife Refuge Needs to be Protected
An Op-ed written for Writing for Strategic Communications. We were required to choose an organization, and write about a pressing news matter at the time of the assignment. I am a fan of the World Wildlife Foundation's work, and decided to write mine about the potential arctic drilling that may take place in 2021, and why it's wrong. Science writing is a big passion of mine, and I wanted to write an op-ed that turned big scientific ideas into easily understandable ones.

Crisis Communication: Ferrara Candy Company
For this assignment, I was required to create a press kit for a crisis at Ferrara Candy Company. The crisis involved the discovery that Quinoline yellow dye (Yellow dye no. 5) caused hyperactivity in children. In the example, Yellow dye no. 5 was the main ingredient in the company's candy corn, and I had to try and ease the situation. My audience was mostly current consumers of the product, and my goal was to address the issue coherently without writing anything misleading or downright untrue.
